My best guess is he had a massive stroke, probably due to his life long smoking habit.  I would not be surprised if that wiki entry is true.

Guessing he’s still kicking as I can only find news of him being gravely ill in a Swiss hospital....sad though, he DID do a lot of FCA, even if a lot of people didn’t like him...
